B. An Act Relative to Dropout Prevention and Recovery (S. 251)

Massachusetts has the best public schools in the nation, but continues to face a deep achievement gap. This bill calls on parents, teachers, administrators, community members, and the state to be a part of the solution of keeping all of our students on a path to graduation. It improves systems for identifying students who may be at-risk of dropping out, creates the Massachusetts Graduation Coach Initiative (matching at-risk students with caring adults tasked with helping to guide them to success in the school system), and raises the mandatory school attendance age from 16 to 18.
