L. An Act to Ensure Uniformity in Education Discrimination Complaint Procedures (S. 960)

The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination reviews complaints of discrimination based on status in a protected class in the areas of housing, employment, and education. Currently, there is a discrepancy in the law that allows complainants who have been discriminated against in housing and employment up to 300 days after the alleged incident to file a complaint, while complainants who have been discriminated against in education have only 180 days. This bill amends the current law to allow complainants in education cases the full 300 days to file a complaint and brings this M.G.L. up to date with current US EEOC policy.
