BOSTON—Senator Sonia Chang-Díaz announced today that critical funds for summer jobs for youth at-risk were included in the supplemental budget passed this afternoon by the State Senate. The line item (7002-0012) was also included in the House budget passed yesterday.
“I’m thrilled that we in the Legislature voted to include youth summer jobs in the supplemental budget passed today,” said Senator Chang-Díaz. “This line item is always one of my top budget priorities because it is truly a lifeline for hundreds of young people in my district. Summer jobs keep young people on a positive path during the summer months when we see rates of violence spike, and provide critical income to their families.
“I especially want to thank Senate Ways and Means Chairman Stephen Brewer for recognizing the value of youth summer jobs—especially in tough times—on communities around the state, and making these programs a priority today.”
